Touch Me Now…

The inspiration behind our featured poem are the figures of Mary Magdalene and Thomas, two disciples of Christ who had a special encounter with Him after His resurrection.

The cry,

the anguish,

the sadness in young hearts

is a thirst for communion,

a longing for friendship,

for companionship,

for a family

to love,

accept,

and appreciate them.

Why the craze for sex?

Why the craze for publicity?

It’s because of this longing

to be recognized

and to be appreciated

by a world seemingly apathetic

and impersonal, a world which has

put so much value in vain beauty,

in prestige, power and glory.

Young hearts wounded

because of the world’s mentality,

young hearts in search of happiness.

The wound of my generation

is sadness and loneliness expressed by

my contemporaries in songs, in films,

in art.

A loneliness to the max, crying in despair,

in anguish, and even to the point of death.

For this, the cry of the Forsaken, ever so loud

can be heard by many young hearts, by my heart,

by your heart.

With this, I cherish and admire the Forsaken,

For deep within, I cry too,

with my loss of values,

with my conscience so sensitive,

with the gap between rich and poor countries,

with division and abuse in the name of religion,

With AIDS, SARS COVID-19,

I will touch the wounds and embrace You

for I know that beyond these wounds

is a body resurrected

with no more pain.

I will go beyond these wounds

for no other reason

except “I Love You.”

Restless Heart
