A Little Goes a Long Way

The kingdom of God is built by small but concrete gestures of kindness that positively influence people’s lives.

Fr. Matteo Rebecchi in an interfaith dialogue meeting

Recently, I received a message from someone who was troubled by an uncertain situation. Fortunately, I was able to connect this person with a friend who could help resolve the problem, or at least, give some clarification to reassure the person in difficulty. Making that phone call was my own little way of tangibly showing love and support.

This simple act was akin to sowing a seed, like the one mentioned by the Word of Life.1 Thanks to the concern and kindness of my friend, the situation was resolved, bringing joy to everyone.

Fr. Matteo Rebecchi, SX

1 Refers to “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.” (Mk 4:26-27). The Word of Life is a passage from Scripture chosen each month as a guide for daily living for members and friends of the Focolare Movement.
