Last Holy Week, Focolare youth from different parts of the Philippines deepened their experience of living closeness with God and with every neighbor as they gathered again for their yearly appointment in Mariapolis Peace in Tagaytay.

EGS (Easter Gen School) 2026 opened with vibrant energy through a lively animation led by the Gen (the youth of the Focolare), setting the tone for a meaningful journey ahead. It was followed by heartfelt sharing of personal experiences on bearing witness — stories that inspired and deepened everyone’s faith.
A special highlight of the day was the unveiling of the official logo for the 60th Anniversary of the Gen Movement, marking a milestone of unity and mission. This was complemented by open-house dialogues, warmly welcomed by families, focolarini, volunteers, and members of the Focolare community — creating spaces of genuine encounter and friendship.

As the day unfolded, bonds were strengthened, and bridges were built — not only among participants but also with God, through acts of love and communion.
The evening culminated in a deeply moving celebration of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, including the washing of the feet and the adoration of the Holy Eucharist — powerful moments of humility, service, and devotion.
As Day 1 came to a close, the spirit of closeness was truly lived by every participant. It was, indeed, a beautiful and grace-filled experience shared by all.

The day unfolded in a quieter, more contemplative rhythm — beginning with prayer and song, drawing everyone into a space of listening and openness. Reflecting on the moments of Day 1 through recaps from Tagaytay and Cebu, each participant was invited to recognize how grace continues to move, even across distances.
At the heart of the day was the call to live closeness as communion — not just as an idea, but as a concrete choice to love, to stay, and to become one with others. Through reflection and shared experiences, this invitation became personal and real.
The day created space not only for dialogue, but also for silence. In the stillness of the Time-Out for Peace, each participant encountered a deeper presence — one that speaks not in noise, but in quiet certainty.

As the afternoon deepened, the focus turned toward Jesus Forsaken — a love that embraces even pain, abandonment, and darkness. Through stories, reflection, and song, this mystery became something to live and embrace in everyday life.
Entering into the spirit of Good Friday, the community gathered in prayer for the Veneration of the Cross and the Stations of the Cross. In these sacred moments, love revealed itself not in words, but in surrender.
The day concluded with Gen Unit Meetings, where each geographical area shared, reflected, and accompanied one another, ensuring that everyone was seen and heard.
Quiet yet profound — a day of choosing to remain, to listen, and to love, where closeness slowly became true communion.

With the theme “Closeness in Prayer and Union with God,” each one was invited into a deeper encounter with God through prayer and lived experiences — discovering that this closeness is something personal, real, and alive.
In the afternoon, the personal tracks and workshops became a special highlight — creating spaces where each one could grow, express, and discover their own path. It was a moment of active participation, where gifts were shared, talents were explored, and faith was lived in a concrete and creative way.

As night fell, the community prepared for the Easter Vigil, entering into the beauty and depth of the celebration — where darkness gives way to light, and hope is renewed in the Risen Jesus.
The joy did not end there. The evening continued with a Chill Night celebration, filled with laughter, music, and genuine encounters — a joyful expression of the Resurrection, where the light of Jesus Risen was not only celebrated, but truly lived in the happiness and unity of everyone present.
A day of light, growth, and joy — where prayer deepened into union, and that union overflowed into celebration.

The final day began with a deep reflection on the Resurrection of Christ — a reminder that love is stronger than death, and that every sacrifice finds its meaning in new life. This truth came alive as the community gathered for the Easter Sunday Mass, celebrating together the joy and hope of the Risen Jesus.
As the morning continued, a new journey was opened with the launching of World Youth Day 2027 in Korea, inviting everyone to look ahead with excitement and mission — bringing the light each one has received into the world.
Moments of plenary sharing allowed each participant to express their experiences, insights, and personal encounters throughout the days — stories of transformation, unity, and grace that will continue beyond the event.
As the program came to a close, hearts were full — carrying not only memories, but a renewed commitment to live what has been received.
And then, it was time to go, with everyone bringing the light, the love, and the unity experienced, ready to be lived in everyday life.
A journey may have ended, but a mission has just begun.
